Sensei Peter Martinov is a world and European champion in karate kyokushin super heavyweight. Originally from Stara Zagora (Bulgaria). He followed in the footsteps of his father in the sport, who was a weightlifter. He went through football and judo briefly until he discovered the magic of karate. He has had an extremely successful career, being one of the most outstanding fighters of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation. He is now a coach.
He holds a black belt and 4th dan in Kyokushin. He is also a world and European champion and a multiple medalist in major tournaments.
Undoubtedly, his most important award is the world title in the category of over 90 kg, which he won in his homeland of this sport, Japan, in 2014. The competition was held within one day, and Martinov achieved four wins to the gold—two by knockout and two on points.
Apart from karate, Martinov also took up kickboxing, where he also recorded successes, and in 2007, he took part in the Bulgarian fighting circuit “Ichigeki” when he was only 19.
After a successful career as a competitor, today, Sensei Petar Martinov is part of the coaching staff of the national team of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation. He is also a licensed instructor of the KWU Professional League and regularly participates in the organization’s camps as an instructor and mentor.
