Fight fans are in for a spectacular night on May 30 at 19:30, when SENSHI 31 Gladiators transforms the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv into a stage of power, skill, and warrior spirit. The highlight of the evening will be the 70 kg Grand Prix tournament — eight fighters, three bouts in one night, and only one champion. It’s a brutal test of endurance, strategy, and heart, where only the strongest will survive.
Alongside the Grand Prix, the event will also feature two high-profile super fights. In one of them, Bulgarian fan favorite Atanas Bozhilov will face England’s Bart Horvat under KWU FULL CONTACT rules at 75 kg.
During the fifth specialized SENSHI training camp in Varna, the team of Boec.bg caught up with “Mr. SENSHI” to talk about his preparation, longevity in the sport, and expectations ahead of the event in Plovdiv.
“The secret to a long career in combat sports is consistency,” Bozhilov said. “I stay disciplined year-round and train every single day.”
He also praised the SENSHI camps, describing them as a huge advantage for fighters looking to improve at the highest level. “These camps are extremely valuable because we get the chance to train with elite fighters and learn directly from some of the best in the sport.”
Bozhilov expects a tough challenge against Bart Horvat, whom he described as a strong and experienced opponent with an impressive résumé. “We’re studying him carefully with my coach, and I believe we’ll give the Bulgarian fans a victory to celebrate.”
The Bulgarian veteran also shared his thoughts on the upcoming Grand Prix tournament, predicting a stacked and highly competitive bracket. “The 70 kg Grand Prix will be a top-level event with amazing fighters like Dragomir Petrov and Samo Petje.”
Asked about a possible rematch with Samo Petje, Bozhilov made it clear he would welcome the opportunity at the right time. He also praised SENSHI Grand Prix champion Zhulien Rikov, calling him a talented young fighter with a bright future ahead, although he noted that a fight with him is “not currently on the agenda.”
Bozhilov closed the interview with a message to the fans: “I invite everyone to come to the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on May 30. It’s going to be an incredible show, and I truly believe we’ll give the fans a night to remember.”
