Benjamin Adegbuyi: I am still hungry for the win and in my best shape

In a recent interview for ChampsTalkTV the famous Romanian boxer and kickboxer Benjamin Adegbuyi shared some insights of his career and talked about his upcoming match against Daniel Dinev during SENSHI 31 Gladiators. The event will take place on May 30 at 7:30 PM at the Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv.

Adegbuyi says that in the past he has struggled with some injuries, but now he is feeling good and healthy. He is hesitant to speak about them, because he doesn`t like to complain for such things. The main problem was a bad injury of his shoulder, which resulted in inability to work with his right hand.

In his opinion in order to step into the ring against some of the best heavyweight kickboxers, one has to be a 100% mentally and physically ready. Regardless of the obstacles, he feels good about the fight, and mentions that he never regrets a match.

Even though he struggled with numerous injuries the past seasons, he never gave up - that is a quality of a real champion. Benjamin always reminds himself that age is just a number, this is what drives him to keep going. From his point of view with discipline and consistency anyone can beat even the most skilled opponent.

He admits that he sees himself as undefeated both in boxing and kickboxing and that he is planning to box again this year.

The fighter shares he learned that if you want to be the best, you need to train like the best and you need to make a lot of sacrifices. Sometimes you have to make the sport your number one priority, even if that means to put your family and your kids second. This is an extremely hard thing to do.

As for Daniel Dinev he comments: “He's a very young fighter. He's a world champion in the amateurs, so he already has a good background.” Adegbuyi explains that he doesn`t underestimate his opponent: “He's a champion of Bulgaria, European champion and world champion. So I don't need to underestimate him. He has one single thing in advantage against me: the hunger of the young lion for the victory. But you know what? I'm still hungry.” Benjamin thinks his experience is crucial for the victory.

The Romanian fighter mentions that SENSHI 31 Gladiators is one of the important martial arts events. He says that he is happy to take part in the competition and considers himself to be in very good shape and ready to fight. But he admits that age plays a role in the level of his performance: “I'm still 41. The reaction is not the same. The power is not the same. The recovery is not the same.”

When asked whether he is thinking of retiring soon, he responds that he doesn`t know if it's going to be in the end of this year or next year, but he knows that at the moment he feels so good that he is not thinking that this is going to be his last fight: “I'm still hungry. I still need the win.”
