The Mayor of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Kostadin Dimitrov, visited the international SENSHI training camp, which is taking place from May 28 to 31 at Kolodruma Hall and precedes the international fight gala SENSHI 31 Gladiators.
More than 260 athletes from over 20 countries are participating in the camp, while some of the biggest names in world K-1 and combat sports arrived in Plovdiv especially for the event – Semmy Schilt, Ernesto Hoost, Albert Kraus, Andy Souwer, Tariel Nikoleishvili, Jan Soukup, and other legendary fighters and coaches.
The mayor welcomed the world champions and expressed his respect for their contribution to the development of combat sports worldwide. During the visit, he observed part of the kickboxing and kyokushin training sessions and spoke with the participants about the philosophy of sport, discipline, and the role of martial arts in shaping young people.
Kostadin Dimitrov himself is a taekwondo master, a long-time vice president of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation, an international referee, a coach at Trakia Sports Club, and holder of an 8th dan degree. Before his political career, he was well known in sports circles for his active work in developing taekwondo in Bulgaria.
“Sport builds discipline, respect, and character – qualities that are extremely important for young people. And once again, Plovdiv is the center of a prestigious international event,” Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov stated.
The legendary fighters also shared their excellent impressions of Plovdiv and the organization of the event. They emphasized that they feel wonderful in the city and are eagerly awaiting the major Grand Prix tournament within SENSHI 31 Gladiators, which will take place on Saturday.
For the second consecutive year, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is hosting the international SENSHI camp and strengthening its position as an important destination for major international sporting events.
