Absolute Kyokushin Karate World Champion Sensei Zahari Damyanov made his first appearance in the studio of Sportal Fight Club. The Varna-born fighter, who has practiced Kyokushin Karate for nearly 30 years, shared details about some of the most significant martial arts events scheduled to take place this summer.
The four-time European champion will play a key role during the martial arts week on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast between July 6 and 13. Sensei Damyanov will be among the leading instructors at the 19th International Martial Arts Summer Camp of the Kyokushin World Union (KWU), where he will pass on his knowledge to fighters from around the world. He will also serve as a referee and judge at upcoming sports events – the World Cup Varna in Kyokushin Karate, the second edition of the KWU SENSHI World Cup for Amateurs 2025, and the professional fight night SENSHI 27.
The Kyokushin master, who is also a two-time American Absolute Champion, spoke to Sportal.bg readers about the structure of the training sessions in Kamchia and why sparring and applied techniques learned in these sessions are essential for martial artists and combat sports practitioners. Sensei Damyanov is not only the head coach of the Bulgarian national Kyokushin Karate team but also the founder and coach of the Nihonto Karate Club in Varna. He also shared in the media studio why coaching remains his greatest passion.
