Before taking part as a head instructor at the SENSHI International Summer Martial Arts Camp, Dutch kickboxing star Andy Souwer took time for an interview on bTV’s morning show Predi Obed.
Souwer is a two-time K-1 MAX world champion and is recognized as one of the best kickboxers in the world. Known by the nickname The Destroyer, he has defeated some of the biggest names in the sport. After retiring from active competition, Andy Souwer has dedicated himself to training young fighters and now serves as a lead instructor at SENSHI training camps. He is also part of the star-studded lineup of referees, judges, and commentators at the professional SENSHI fight nights.
In the exclusive interview, viewers got a glimpse into the life of The Destroyer. Andy Souwer began training in kickboxing at the age of 7 and had his first match at just 8 years old. The decision came from his father, who wanted his son to be more resilient and confident, despite Andy’s passion for football. Today, it’s his own son who is living out that childhood dream, training in football and developing within a professional football club.
During the conversation, Souwer shared the life lessons that kickboxing has taught him over the years. “When you’re hurt in life, you try to face the problem, look it in the eye, and overcome it. It’s the same in our sport – the opponent is the problem, and you respond, you fight to earn the belt and overcome that challenge.” You can watch the full interview with the famous Dutch fighter on the Predi Obed show on the bTV website.
Nowadays, Souwer frequently visits Bulgaria to pass on his knowledge and skills to the next generation of kickboxers and the future stars of the SENSHI series. He will also take part in the grand XIX edition of the International Martial Arts Summer Camp, set to take place in Kamchia this July.
The next professional fight gala night, SENSHI 27, will be held on July 12, 2025, in the city of Varna. Among the global legends of combat sports, Andy Souwer will once again be present. The 27th edition of the international fight show will take place on a spectacular beach arena in Bulgaria’s sea capital, featuring outdoor bouts. Fight fans will also witness the finals of the KWU SENSHI World Cup for Amateurs 2025.
