Dragomir Petrov is one of the most respected names in Bulgarian combat sports and a two-time SENSHI European Champion in the 70 kg division for 2023 and 2024. So far, he has 12 victories out of 16 appearances in the SENSHI ring.
His opponent at SENSHI 29, which will take place on December 6 at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, will be Aissam Chadid from Morocco. Tickets for the fight night are available through Eventim.bg.
“I never stopped training. I had an adductor muscle tear and inflammation in my hip joint, but I’m feeling good now. The final stage of my preparation is ahead,” he said in an interview for Bulgaria Sutrin.
The champion describes his upcoming rival as an experienced and versatile fighter. Petrov expects a very exciting and dynamic bout at SENSHI 29. The Bulgarian athlete believes he has the advantage in terms of physical strength, conditioning, and discipline. “My team and I are working with a different training approach — to build upon my strongest sides. I’ll try to impose my own style in the ring,” he shared on Bulgaria ON AIR.
Petrov added that he now enters the ring with more confidence and a greater sense of responsibility, knowing he has to improve every time so as not to disappoint his fans. He has also started coaching in his hometown of Sliven, where, as he says, the kids are “burning with passion” during training sessions.
“My goal is to be a good example for the younger generation — to inspire them and share my experience. If they can follow this path, the path of discipline through sport, that’s the greatest reward. I talk to them a lot about life, and I try to be like a friend to them,” he emphasized.
“On the day of the fight, I completely switch off — I turn off my phone and only talk to my team. It’s an incredible feeling when the arena is full — I love performing in front of people,” the fighter revealed.
“SENSHI gave me the opportunity to become recognizable not only in Bulgaria but also internationally,” Petrov admitted. The full interview with him can be seen on the Bulgaria ON AIR website.
