“Beyond the Bell” – A Bridge Between Legends and the Future of Combat Sports

Global kickboxing stars step up to the microphone to reveal the secrets of the ring in SENSHI’s special project.

International fight promotion SENSHI presents the second edition of a special project featuring respected combat sports legends that promises to change the way fans experience authentic fight content. SENSHI’s exclusive project, “Beyond the Bell,” brings together two of the biggest names in kickboxing history.

Hosted by Grant Waterman, the project aims to give viewers a detailed and expert perspective on the psychology, tactics, and techniques of the fighters who step into the SENSHI ring. The previous edition of “Beyond the Bell” featured Semmy Schilt and Ernesto Hoost, who shared personal stories from their professional careers and spoke about the price of becoming a champion in the highly competitive world of combat sports. The second edition welcomed K-1 World MAX champions Albert Kraus and two-time titleholder Andy Souwer.

An Honest Conversation About the Road to Becoming a Champion

For K-1 champion Andy Souwer, taking part in SENSHI’s new communication format is an opportunity to pass on his vast experience in a fresh and accessible way. The connection with the next generation of young and talented fighters is immediate; their questions are unexpected, and the answers from these combat legends are powerful and candid.

“This is a fantastic project. We are here to show people what goes on inside a fighter’s mind while they are in the ring. It’s not just about throwing punches—it’s about strategy, moments of weakness, and moments of triumph,” said Dutch kickboxing legend Andy Souwer. “SENSHI is always raising the bar, and with ‘Beyond the Bell’ we are giving fans something they rarely get to see—real, pure analysis from people who have spent their entire lives fighting.”

Albert Kraus: “Here We See the True Spirit of Martial Arts”

For Albert Kraus, a regular guest and instructor at the international training camps of the Professional League of the Kyokushin World Union (KWU), participating in the project is a natural continuation of his mission in combat sports.

“It is always a pleasure to be part of the SENSHI family. In the special project ‘Beyond the Bell,’ we focus on the details—the little things that decide matches at such a high level,” said Albert Kraus. “What we are doing here is showing viewers that every fighter has their own story and unique journey. In Plovdiv, at this historic venue, the spirit of martial arts will be stronger than ever.”

A Bridge Between the History and the Future of Kickboxing

The meeting of young combat athletes at the millennia-old Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv during the next edition of the fight gala SENSHI 31 Gladiators perfectly reflects the philosophy of “Beyond the Bell”—to honor tradition while presenting the sport in the most modern way possible.

The legendary duo Kraus and Souwer will once again be part of the star-studded lineup at SENSHI 31 Gladiators, where they will comment on and analyze the most exciting moments of the fights, including the Grand Prix elimination tournament featuring stars such as Samo Petje and Wiktor Kolaja.

“Viewers can expect very honest and direct commentary. We know what it feels like to be in there. We know when it hurts and when a fighter is close to giving up. Our job is to translate that experience for the audience,” Souwer added regarding their role as commentators at the professional fight event.
