The third edition of the KWU SENSHI World Cup for Amateurs 2026 officially begins today, July 9, marking the start of one of the most prestigious international amateur combat sports tournaments of the summer. Held as part of the 20th International Martial Arts Summer Camp in Varna, Bulgaria, the competition brings together some of the world's most promising full-contact fighters.
A total of 48 competitors from 22 countries will step into the ring to compete under the dynamic KWU SENSHI ruleset, inspired by Muay Thai and full-contact karate. Fighters representing Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, England, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, United Kingdom, and United States are ready to battle for a place in tomorrow's semifinals and finals.
Today's program features the qualification bouts across six weight categories: up to 70 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 80 kg, up to 85 kg, up to 90 kg, and over 90 kg, with eight athletes competing in each division. Spectators can expect spectacular action with elbow strikes, clinch fighting, throws, and sweeps, as each contest is fought over three rounds of three minutes.
The KWU SENSHI World Cup for Amateurs 2026 continues to strengthen its reputation as a pathway for talented athletes aiming to transition to the professional stage.
