Four-time Bulgarian K-1 champion and national kickboxing champion Mihail Velchovski will take on experienced Spaniard Andres Casado at the international fight gala SENSHI 31 Gladiators. Their bout will serve as a reserve match in the Grand Prix tournament in the 70 kg division. With a victory, Velchovski has a real chance to enter the main bracket should any of the other fighters be unable to continue. SENSHI 31 Gladiators will take place at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on May 30 at 7:30 PM EET /12:30 PM EST/, with tickets available via Eventim.bg.
Velchovski has four appearances in the SENSHI ring so far, with two victories, and this will be his first participation in an elimination tournament. He already has a plan for securing the win. Andres Casado is a CFS world champion, WAKO Mediterranean champion for 2025, and an international champion in England in 2023. This will be his debut appearance in the SENSHI promotion in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Weeks ahead of the decisive bout, Mihail Velchovski appeared on the TV show “Bulgaria Sutrin” on Bulgaria ON AIR together with his coach Dragomir Yordanov. In the interview, the fighter shared that his opponents do not surprise him, as he and his team are maximally prepared: “We watch and analyze my previous fights.” Before a bout, thoughts from all directions can attack you about whether you will perform well, but the crowd provides additional motivation, he emphasized.
Velchovski also admitted in the studio that the training ahead of the SENSHI tournament is extremely demanding. “Mental preparation happens in the gym. We train for two to three fights. You step in confident, knowing you are prepared,” he added.
According to him, his coach Dragomir Yordanov is demanding, but within reasonable limits. Velchovski revealed that it was a difficult decision to move from Vratsa to Dobrich in order to train under Yordanov. “We are friends - he always gave me advice on how to train, and in the end I decided to go and train with him,” the fighter said.
