Samo Petje Ahead of SENSHI 30: “I’m Ready to Prove I Deserve the Helmet of Spartacus”

The SENSHI European Champion in the up to 75 kg division faces Japanese star Hirokatsu Miyagi in one of the super fights of the anniversary edition.

On February 28 at 7:00 PM EET /12:00 PM EST/, the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria, will once again become the epicenter of combat sports with the anniversary edition SENSHI 30, bringing together fighters from 13 countries – Japan, Brazil, Kazakhstan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, Moldova, Albania, Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria.

The international fight promotion will mark the event with a historic moment – the first-ever Grand Prix tournament in the up to 75 kg category, which will crown the first SENSHI champion in this division. Twelve elite fighters will take part in the competition, and the format is uncompromising: direct eliminations and three consecutive fights in a single evening, from which only one fighter will emerge victorious and enter history. In addition to the high-stakes tournament, the fight card also includes three super clashes under KWU Full Contact rules, which will further raise the tension in the arena. Tickets for the fight gala can be purchased via Eventim.bg.

In one of the most anticipated super fights in the up to 70 kg category, Slovenian star Samo Petje will face a representative of the Japanese fighting school, Hirokatsu Miyagi. Petje is the proud holder of the SENSHI European Champion title in the up to 75 kg division, as well as the recipient of the organization’s most prestigious individual award – the “Helmet of Spartacus” for 2025. The Boec.bg team contacted the Slovenian fighter on the eve of the gala to learn more about his preparation and expectations ahead of the bout.

Samo Petje shares that he feels excellent, motivated, and grateful for the opportunity to fight at the anniversary edition of SENSHI, which he describes as an honor and a great recognition. He admits that the upcoming match carries special emotion, as it will be his first fight since becoming the father of twins – an event that has made him even more ambitious and focused. His extensive experience of seven fights in Japan gives him confidence that he will feel comfortable against an opponent from this fighting school, and he expects an atmosphere similar to that of Japanese arenas.

The Slovenian remains true to his style – always entering the ring with a clear plan and the determination to show the best version of himself. According to him, his opponent can learn a lot from the discipline, energy, and passion he brings into every fight, but he also warns that he expects an extremely tough bout and calls on Miyagi to be ready for a real battle. Petje is adamant that fans will see a stronger and even more dangerous version of him compared to last year, because he has something to prove – that he was the right choice to receive the “Helmet of Spartacus.”

On the eve of SENSHI 30, Samo Petje appears ready to defend his status as one of the leading fighters in the organization and to deliver another spectacle for the audience in Varna. For him, this fight is not just another match, but an opportunity to cement his name among the biggest stars of SENSHI and to show that a champion’s spirit must be proven again and again — in the ring.
