Just a few months after his major international triumph, reigning European K-1 Champion Simeon Nakovski is set to make his SENSHI debut in a 70 kg Super Fight. In an interview with Bulgaria ON AIR, he spoke about the upcoming challenge and shared his mindset ahead of the bout.
On September 5, аt the international fight gala SENSHI 33 Grand Prix, eight professional fighters will compete in a single-elimination tournament for the Grand Prix title in category -95 kg. Tickets for the event are available through the Eventim.bg network.
"I'm preparing for SENSHI at 100%—seriously and with complete focus. I train twice a day, every day. Being part of this fight gala means a lot to me, but it's also a great responsibility to step into the ring with world-class fighters," Nakovski said during the morning television program.
He promised to give his absolute best to justify the trust placed in him by the organizers.
"The stakes are very high. SENSHI is a world-class organization, and there are no easy fighters. I'll rely on everything I have in this fight—strategy, speed, power, and endurance. Of course, I'd like to win by knockout," the fighter added during the interview.
Nakovski is not concerned that the event will take place outdoors, on the beach at St. St. Constantine and Helena Resort in Varna, Bulgaria.
"I don't have any specific ritual or tradition before a fight. I think about everything I've been through and what I need to do. Every fighter always has a backup plan. You prepare with one strategy, but you also have a Plan B. And the adrenaline is so intense that you don't think about the crowd—you stay focused and calm," he explained.
Nakovski has been involved in combat sports for 20 years, and in May this year the kickboxer entered the Top 10 of the BoxRec world rankings in the Super Featherweight division.
"It's a great recognition of my hard work and the work of my entire team. My son is my biggest motivation and the most precious thing in my life. I want to teach him to be a good person and never to give up, no matter what challenges he faces. Mental strength is extremely important," he concluded.
