Hirokatsu Miyagi: I Will Show the Samurai Spirit Against Samo Petje at SENSHI 30

On February 28 at 7:00 PM, the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna will once again become the epicenter of combat sports with the anniversary edition SENSHI 30, bringing together fighters from 13 countries. The international fighting organization will mark the event with a historic milestone — the first-ever Grand Prix tournament in the -75 kg division, which will crown the inaugural SENSHI champion in this category. Twelve elite fighters will compete in a ruthless format of direct eliminations and three consecutive bouts in a single evening, with only one writing his name into history. In addition to the high-stakes tournament, the fight card also features three spectacular KWU Full Contact super fights set to further raise the tension in the arena.

In one of the most anticipated super fights in the -70 kg division will see Slovenian star Samo Petje face Japan’s Hirokatsu Miyagi — the RISE 188 winner known for his discipline and relentless fighting style. Boec.bg contacted the Japanese fighter ahead of the gala to learn more about his preparation, fighting philosophy, and expectations before the clash.

Miyagi has been training in martial arts for more than 14 years, admitting that his journey began with the simple desire to become stronger, inspired by the competitive spirit of his native Okinawa. Over time, combat sports turned into a mission and a way of life. He does not hide that fear of defeat, injury, or disappointing his supporters still exists, but believes a true fighter steps into the ring despite those fears.

His preparation follows a strict routine — morning roadwork and conditioning, followed by evening sparring and pad work, ending with recovery sessions. Sparring remains his favorite part of training, as it sharpens his instincts and builds real fight rhythm. Miyagi is convinced that physical and mental strength go hand in hand, and that championship qualities are built through consistency, dedication, and an unrelenting desire to win.

Among the most memorable moments of his career are his fights in a well-known Japanese promotion, where he competed under immense pressure and expectations, reaching sixth place in the rankings — an achievement he considers a collective success of his entire team. According to him, the difference between European and Japanese fighting styles is significant: European fighters rely more on physical power and aggression, while the Japanese approach emphasizes technique, timing, and strategy.

Outside the ring, Miyagi finds balance in the nature of Okinawa and in practicing traditional Japanese swordsmanship, Iaido, which strengthens his discipline and focus. During difficult times, he stays motivated by thinking of the people who support him and his mission to represent his homeland with pride.

Ahead of the bout against Samo Petje, he is both excited and fully focused. He describes SENSHI in three words — “Samurai, War, Determination” — and promises to demonstrate the true spirit of a Japanese fighter who never gives up. His message to his opponent is respectful yet confident: he is coming for victory. To the fans, he promises a spectacular and uncompromising battle they will remember for a long time.

Hirokatsu Miyagi enters SENSHI 30 determined not only to win but also to further establish his name on the international stage. The Japanese fighter is confident that the audience in Varna will witness a clash filled with energy, character, and relentless will — a true collision of fighting philosophies worthy of the anniversary edition of the organization.
