At just 30 years old, the Romanian fighter Marian “The Terror” Lapușneanu has already built an impressive career in kickboxing, with multiple Colosseum Tournament titles, a DFS win, and an undefeated record at SENSHI (2:0). He is set to face Bulgarian kickboxing star Dragomir Petrov in his second match, who requested a rematch with Lapushneanu after losing to him at SENSHI 20.
Starting from humble beginnings in a disadvantaged neighborhood, Lapușneanu found his way into the gym at age 15 and has since risen to become one of Romania’s most respected fighters. With discipline, mental strength, and the drive to set an example for his three children, Marian continues to chase new heights in the ring.
Ahead of his upcoming fight at SENSHI 28, which will be part of the program of the first historic Grand Prix edition of the series, he revealed more about his journey, training, and what fans can expect to Gong.bg.
What first inspired you to start kickboxing?
I grew up in a tough area and felt the need to defend myself. At 15, I joined a gym and quickly became the best in my town. That’s where my journey began.
Can you describe your daily training routine?
In the mornings, I alternate between running to build endurance and gym sessions for strength. Afternoons are for kickboxing—technique, tactics, and mental preparation. At home, I also do exercises to improve focus.
Do you have any special rituals before a fight?
Yes. I switch off my phone, stay alone in silence, and visualize every moment—entering the ring, greeting the audience, even how I’ll react if I get hit hard. It helps me stay sharp.
Which fight has been the most memorable in your career so far?
Against Alex Bublea. He had vast experience, and that match gave me confidence and showed me how much I’d grown.
What keeps you motivated during tough times?
My three children. They are everything to me, and I want to set the right example and give them a good life.
How do you feel about your upcoming fight at SENSHI 28 Grand Prix?
SENSHI is one of the strongest promotions in the world. Fighting here helps me grow. I’m in great shape, and fans can expect a very high-level fight.
What message do you have for your opponent?
I hope we make a clean, beautiful fight and give everything in the ring in the fight gala night on 13 September in Varna, Bulgaria.
And for your fans?
Thank you for following my career. It’s an honor to inspire young people the way I was once inspired by famous fighters.
