Michael Samperi to his opponent at SENSHI 23: There’s a fire in me that’s hard to put out!

Michael Samperi, a 24-year-old Italian kickboxer, has been training in martial arts since he was just three years old. He was a WKA World Champion in 2023, WBC Mediterranean Champion in 2021, and ICO European Champion – in 2018. His father, who also serves as his coach, instilled his passion for the sport. Kickboxing is his primary discipline, and this early start has shaped him into a dedicated and skilled fighter with a deep love for the sport.

One of Samperi’s most significant achievements is winning his first professional world title last year, a moment filled with incredible emotions. For Samperi, every opponent presents a unique challenge, and he holds great respect for all his competitors. Giorgio Petrosyan stands as his biggest inspiration in the sport.

Mental preparation comes naturally to him, as he draws strength from his zodiac sign, Leo, which he believes makes him unstoppable once he sets a goal. Before a fight, Samperi listens to his favorite music to focus and energize himself.

In a short interview, especially for the sports media Gol.bg, the Italian told his expectations before the fight gala SENSHI 23. His opponent will be Dmytro Hlevka from Portugal, and his debut in the ring is scheduled for September 7 in Varna.

Can you describe a typical training day for you?

It all depends on when the date of the match is close, but generally, I do athletic training in the morning and technical work of my fighting skills in the afternoon.

What is your favorite training exercise or drill?

I enjoy focusing on my explosive strength and refining my techniques, paying close attention to pad work, which is the core of my training.

What has been your most memorable fight so far, and why?

Many fighters have left an impression on me; I don’t have just one bout to emphasize. But I really enjoy it when both my opponent and I go to war, firing up the crowd in the arena and those watching at home.

Who has been your most formidable opponent?

There are no easy or tough opponents; in this sport, no one holds back or does not retreat.

How do you stay motivated during tough times?

Even though it’s not easy, especially in troubled times, I always stay focused on my goal.

What advice would you give to aspiring fighters?

If you’re not willing to sacrifice day and night, there’s no point in starting this sport. It’s not easy, but it can give you immense satisfaction!

How do you feel about your upcoming fight?

I’m focused and feel really good about this fight. I can’t wait to step into the SENSHI ring.

What message do you have for your opponent?

Prepare well—you may have more experience than me, but I have a fire inside that you’ll struggle to put out.
